This mural is part of a two-year "Purposeful Placemaking mural project" coordinated by Erie Arts and Culture, the murals are located near Erie School District walking bus routes, which are designated areas where children and families typically walk to and from neighborhood
Led by Miami-Based artist Nicole Salgar we finished the mural in summer of 2022. It is on northeast corner of West 11th Street and Weschler Avenue in Erie. It was such an impactful experience working on the mural with Erie Arts and Culture, Nicole, and the neighborhood surrounding the mural.
The elements in the mural were inspired by things found in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. The mural took about 3 weeks to finish. I learned so many valuable skills from this project such as: writing contracts, driving the lift, using a paint sprayer, and projecting large scale images to create an underpainting sketch.
